One of the most influential and popular monster trucks of all time, Grave Digger, uses HP bearings from King Engine Bearings. Made of bi-metal, aluminum silicon alloy, HP bearings feature a 40 Vickers hardness that resists traditional overlay migration and extrusion making it ideal for the demands of high load, short duration race environments such as drag racing, tractor pulls and monster trucks.

Grave Digger is a team of monster trucks that race in the USHRA Monster Jam series across the U.S. and around the world. Their flagship driver is creator Dennis Anderson.

Grave Digger puts HP Bearings to the test with its alcohol injected, 540ci Merlin engine that produces 1,465 maximum horsepower. At 10,400 lbs., Grave Digger makes 1,200 lbs. of torque and reaches a maximum RPM of 8,400.

problems of overlay migration and extrusion in these highly loaded steel crankshaft blown engines, the .015" thick top layer in King’s HP line offers superior macro particle embedability and conformability that is also perfect for medium load, long duration circle track racing using cast iron crankshafts. Additionally, HP bearings have a 450 degrees Fahrenheit heat threshold that affords greater protection against friction and overheating.

King manufactures a large selection of bearings engineered for specific applications. All King performance bearings feature greater rod bearing height that improves bearing to bore contact/heat transfer and reduces spin potential at high RPMs. Main bearings feature enlarged, chamfered oil holes and ¾ grooving. In addition, most rod bearings are available with or without dowel holes. King bearings feature the closest wall tolerances in the industry (Bull’s Eye Tolerance), with all shells matched to .0001". Main and rod bearings are narrowed for large radii crankshafts.
